The Hubris of Changing the World for the Better – 06/10/2014

From “Manifest Destiny”, “Civilizing Mission Colonialism” to “Environmentalism”, NGOs/ONGs Do Gooders Democratization Education, Market Socialism, Communism Freedom Fighters and “All that Jazz”……..;+)

When you discover how much money has been wasted in “hair-brained or harebrained schemes” in former “Low Developing Countries (LDCs), (sorry, PC corrected “Emerging Markets”, now) you wonder how come they have not been bankrupt sooner, and you understand why the world is in “Depression”, not “Recession”, mind you…….;+)

Maybe, “SMART”(Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Bound) was for others’ projects, but not their own…….;+)

Like the saying goes, “it’s easier to see the straw into someone else’s eye, but, ignore the tree in one’s own”……..;+)

Even the Russian and Chinese cover their “colonialism” with altruistic motivation propaganda…….;+)

Once again, we are reminded of the “hubris” definition:

“Hubris means extreme pride or self-confidence. Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one’s own competence, accomplishments or capabilities, especially when the person exhibiting it is in a position of power.”
