US, Viet Nam Sign Nuclear Trade Agreement on Thursday, October 10th, 2013 10/11/2013

Between the World Economy Debacle and the need for the USA to soften their stance on Nuclear Energy, these are the two (2) main predictions that I made, modestly, in 1991, at my return to Viet Nam…….;+)
Now, let see if Viet nam is smarter in handling Nuclear Energy Technology Transfer than it is in handling IT/Telecommunications, Project Management, Innovations and Improvements from Western Culture Transfers through Native English speaking and “really knowledgeable” Foreigners “Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)”……
Or, will Viet Nam continue to “muddle through”, as they are, right now, in being unable to recognize the value of western individuals expertise and refusing to employ qualified western experts under all kind of pretexts, from age discrimination above sixty (60+),(western foreigners experts too old), local employment protection (western foreigners experts stealing jobs from Vietnamese as they accept now Vietnamese salaries ranges), western foreigners, even those driving motorcycles worldwide for tens of years, creating Viet Nam traffic accidents (western foreigners driving motorcycles causing all the terrible deadly traffic accidents in Viet Nam) and loss of Vietnamese culture (if you want to know English and advanced technology, you have to know the culture and the language, and above all, practice it with native speakers amd the Internet, which, as eveyone knows ;+) creates a terrible risk to lose Vietnamese culture!!!! ;+)
“Vietnam is actively taking steps now toward development of a robust domestic infrastructure to support a nuclear energy program,” the US official added.  ;+)“With Vietnam at an early stage of nuclear development, the US official said the agreement provides the basis for US firms to enter the market early as it builds nuclear power plants and for the US government to ensure the proper safeguards.”  ;+)

“Wishful thinking is the formation of beliefs and making decisions according to what might be pleasing to imagine instead of by appealing to evidence, rationality, or reality. Studies have consistently shown that holding all else equal, subjects will predict positive outcomes to be more likely than negative outcomes (see valence effect).”

“On the other hand, some psychologists believe that positive thinking is able to positively influence behavior and so bring about better results. They call it “Pygmalion Effect“.”

Christopher Booker described wishful thinking in terms of

““the fantasy cycle” … a pattern that recurs in personal lives, in politics, in history – and in storytelling. When we embark on a course of action which is unconsciously driven by wishful thinking, all may seem to go well for a time, in what may be called the “dream stage”. But because this make-believe can never be reconciled with reality, it leads to a “frustration stage” as things start to go wrong, prompting a more determined effort to keep the fantasy in being. As reality presses in, it leads to a “nightmare stage” as everything goes wrong, culminating in an “explosion into reality”, when the fantasy finally falls apart.”
